We at City Rand College support an all-encompassing approach to education. We also work to broaden the kids’ understanding and appreciation of their surroundings. Within the context of the school’s child-centered philosophy, residential trips are essential to each student’s social, emotional, and academic development.

The transition from a dependent child in Pre-Prep to an independent thinker in Grade 12 is a long one with deliberate stepping stones. Residential trips are crucial to that journey.

Beginning in Year 3, trips last just two days and one night; for some kids, this may be their first time being away from home. By the time the students at City Rand College are in Year 6, they take a weeklong trip and the location is farther distant; this year, the group traveled to Normandy.

Multi-sensory learning that involves doing, seeing, and listening is without a doubt the most successful. Residential excursions provide our kids with a wealth of opportunities for growth and personal development, especially when you consider the chance to spend time away from home with peers and learn some independence.
